And then the last life lesson, this is called undercover boss. This is not from the show Undercover Boss, but do you recognize me there? I worked for the Marriott for 12 years. And part of that time I was a concierge, part of that time I was working with NFL teams when they would come in and stay with us. And that was a glamorous part of the job. The rest of the time, I was working serving breakfast from 5 o’clock until 11 o’clock. 5 o’clock in the morning until 11 o’clock in the morning. It was not so glamorous.
And I have to tell you, the reason that this slide is here is because there were a lot of people – not just young people but older people – who came into that concierge lounge and treated me disrespectfully because I was wearing a name tag and an apron. They assumed that they had my whole life story all figured out. That I needed this job. And so therefore treated me disrespectfully.
So I want to encourage you that, just because someone is wearing an apron or a name tag, does not mean that you have their life story all figured out. So treat them with respect.
